High Speed Imaging

Farand Systems has designed a variety of high speed imaging and image processing modules. These cameras which are based on the state-of-the-art of semiconductor CCD and CMOS technology can be ordered based on user requirements. A highe pixel rate of 660 Mpixels/sec. make these cameras capable of imaging at 500 frames/sec. with a high resolution of 1.3 Mpixel ( 1280 X 1024 pixels). They can also be run at higher frame rates with lower resolutions.s

Electronic Characteristics

The FPGA technology is used to derive, read out and process the image sensors. Xilinx® FPGAs which are used in our cameras provide the user with the capability of adjusting all the camera parameters including frame rate, resolution, ROI (Region of Interest), exposure etc. The simplest form of our cameras come with a basic sensor deriving and read out algorithm embedded in the FPGA. These cameras are available in color and monochrome versions. The spectral response of the sensors cand be manipulated using optical filters to obtain best optical performance tailored to user application. Optical magnification can also be added to the camera to adapt it with curren optical systems like microscopes, telescope, standard lenses etc.s

The camera modules come with a C-Mount lens adapter, though other lens mounts can be ordered.s

Changing the magnification factor can be performed using both optical and electronic corrections. Although Most silicon based sensors exhibit their best performance in the visible part of the spectrum, due to their highe respnsivity they can also be used in NIR 700nm-1000nm range.s

Higher Resolutions

The product of frame rate and image resolution is a criteria of how fast an imaging system can operate. Farand Systems has produced two classes of cameras operating in 655 Mpixel/sec. and 800 Mpixels/sec. High resolution combined with high frame rate has wide applications in high precision position and motion control at high speed.s
